If I Were a Carpenter

My father-in-law wanted to compile a list of last names that are occupations. I thought I’d get things started:

Obvious ones:

  • Carpenter – woodworker
  • Taylor – clothes maker
  • Smith – metal worker
  • Weaver – cloth weaver

Less obvious ones:

  • Cooper – a barrel maker
  • Chandler – ship outfitter
  • Fletcher – arrowmaker

Here are a couple of links for further information.
